Small Chicken Coops

When it comes to choosing the right chicken coop, size matters! Correct coop sizing is essential to providing your pets with a comfortable and safe environment without taking up too much space in your backyard or garden. For smaller flocks, our coops are designed with one wooden perch and one large nesting box. We highly recommend the Cottage and Deluxe Cottage coops if you only own 1-2 hens.

For 2-3 hens the Holly and Lodge tractor-style enclosures are great for mobility around the yard. The Bungalow and Chalet also offer plenty of space for 3 hens to roam and rest, while still fitting neatly into a smaller area.

Chicken Coops for 6-8 Hens

For 6 hens, consider the Mansion or Deluxe Mansion chicken coops, both designed with ample room and features to provide your chickens with a safe and comfortable home. For 8 hens the Majestic and Estate chicken coops are ideal choices, ensuring your pets have space to roam, roost, and lay eggs comfortably.

These enclosures include two perches providing plenty of space for your hens to roost. The nesting box can also be divided in half, giving your hens separate areas to lay eggs peacefully.

Large Chicken Coops

If you have a larger flock of 8 to 12 hens, check out our Cabana, Cabana & Run, Castle, and Homestead coops. All three coops feature 3 roosting poles, giving your hens plenty of space to perch comfortably. The nesting boxes can be divided into 3 separate sections, allowing for peaceful and organised egg-laying. These spacious, three meter long, coops are ideal for larger flocks, offering a secure and comfortable home for your chooks.

Rot-Resistant Wooden Material

At Somerzby, we understand that durability and longevity are two crucial factors when choosing the right materials for your chicken coop. In tests done by the American Wood Preservers’ Association, China-fir heartwood showed impressive rot resistance, performing similarly to western redcedar (Thuja plicata). 

For this reason, at Somerzby we use naturally rot-resistant China-fir wood(Cunninghamia lanceolata) in our designs. This material is perfect for outdoor chicken coops that need to withstand Australian wet weather conditions
